Uncanny X-Force #2

Creating two of the best characters of the 90's, does not a great artist/writer make.

I'm glad to see that X-Force is sticking around for another go. I would like to stop seeing books get renumbered, but that's a minor detail that I'm sure you'll hear me freak out about at a later date.

Two issues in and I'm not totally disgusted yet *coughWolverineGoestoHellcough*

I'm glad to see Fantomex again. I really like this character. He's like a Deadpool sans all the shameless fan service and lunacy. I would read a Fantomex book if he could harbor a good writer. Anyway, this book is interesting thus far. Wolverine is babysitting Warren's bad-boy alter-ego by preparing Psylocke to run her boyfriend through should the need arise, which I'm sure it will.

Speaking of Wolverine, this is one title I'm not pissed to see him recklessly thrown into without regard for continuity. Seriously, I hate that Wolverine is omnipotent in the Marvel Universe. Speaking of serious, Deadpool is the mascot of this incarnation of X-Force. While his pointless bullshit adds some moisture to Logan's dry-as-day-old-cornbread sense of humor, it really has no flavor anymore for me. I don't need him narrating a comic a la Mystery Science Theatre when I could do it just as easily.

The art is decent. The cover is better. I really like Ribic's two X-Force covers so far and wish the whole interior was his to control. Remender's writing is enjoyable and thoughtful of the characters. I'm not familiar with his writing, but I look forward to reading more.

I'm glad to see X-Force is staying around and the team is staying small. Hopefully it outlives it's opening story arc.

X-Men Legacy #242

I hate guest artists.

I will continue to collect Legacy simply because it's the only title that I have been with from the beginning and am on the verge of completing all of the gaps from 1-242.
The X-Books finished up the Second Coming arc a few months back, and it feels as though Marvel has dropped any talent that existed on these books with the exception of X-Factor which still has good art. What I don't like about forcing myself to buy Legacy is that I just recovered from the outing with Greg Land penciling over Kate Beckinsale for 32 pages and calling it a comic. Clay Mann took over and I liked Mann. Now we get uninspired artwork that really looks amateur.
I will still buy the book. Much like how I hate comic book movies, but will go see them anyway. It's tough to want good talent working on your comics, and it leaves you with uninspired blogs and seven minutes of your life that you'll never have back.
